- 1 cup stoned dates
- 3/4 cup water
- 3 eggs
- 1/2 cup brown sugar
- 1/2 cup margarine spread
- 1 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
- quater cup chopped walnuts
- Add dates and water into a pan and cook for 2 to 3 minutes or until the dates become soft. Set aside.
- In a bowl, beat together eggs and brown sugar for 3 minutes. Melt the margarine and add it to the bowl. Beat again.
- Add the flour, baking soda, and baking powder and beat again.
- Add the dates and walnuts and fold them in using a spatula.
- Pour the batter into a greased and lined bread tin and bake in a preheated oven at 180C for 45 to 50 minutes. Let cool completely and then slice it up.
