Ingredients

  • 1 cup stoned dates
  • 3/4 cup water
  • 3 eggs
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup margarine spread
  • 1 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • quater cup chopped walnuts

Instructions

  1. Add dates and water into a pan and cook for 2 to 3 minutes or until the dates become soft. Set aside.
  2. In a bowl, beat together eggs and brown sugar for 3 minutes. Melt the margarine and add it to the bowl. Beat again.
  3. Add the flour, baking soda, and baking powder and beat again.
  4. Add the dates and walnuts and fold them in using a spatula.
  5. Pour the batter into a greased and lined bread tin and bake in a preheated oven at 180C for 45 to 50 minutes. Let cool completely and then slice it up.
